USNA Foundation Programs

DD is a current Foundation prep student at New Mexico Military Institute. She chose it because she wanted to attend a military junior college and attend college classes as opposed to a civilian prep school.
  • Approximate cost of attendance out of state is $16,000.00.
  • DD received the USNA Foundation scholarship and an additional NMMI scholarship for being a Service Academy Prep student. USNA Foundation scholarship amounts vary based on need. I am not sure as to the exact range.
  • FAFSA is available since it is a junior college.
  • NMMI accepted applications well into the summer (believe it is 2 August this year). DD was contacted by USNA admissions regarding willingness to accept the USNA Foundation scholarship route late in the admissions process (March 30) and then directly by the USNA Foundation the same day.
We have been very happy with NMMI. They have done a good job given the last year of COVID. With the exception of a brief lockdown, she has had in-person classes the whole year. Overall, she has had a good experience, feels very ready to go to USNA, and is excitedly waiting word re: the Class of 2025.

Hope this helps.

USNA Admissions called DS and offered Foundation Scholarship. LT/Counselor will forward DS name to Foundation to start the process today. Advised DS that he is already in the system; need new congressional nomination; keep grades up; and stay out of trouble. DS asked about his medical waiver status and LT/Counselor stated that doc only comes in once a week to do waivers. Since he was offered a prep scholarship, his records will be reviewed soon.
