Hi there everyone, I hope you're all doing well and that the process has been good for you so far! I'm a current candidate with an LOA to USNA, pending a waiver for an acceptance to the academy. I've reached out to USNA Medical Admissions a couple times, even with the help of @MullenLE, and haven't gotten any responses back. I haven't received any emails or correspondences from the academy of DODMERB on AMIs or remedial, and with the April 15th deadline approaching I wanted to see if anyone else was having the same issue with contacting anyone from medical?

DS having the same issue. Has LOA and everything complete except for waiver. Is Under Waiver Review. Reached out to USNA Medical Admissions (email that admissions officer gave him) and has not heard back. Can't offer any suggestions, except to let you know that there are at least two of you in the same boat (no pun intended). Have heard they are swamped, but they are also aware that most of you who have made it this far will have pretty solid back-up options, so I imagine they will be doing all they can to get through the waiver boards as quickly as possible. Good Luck!

DD is in the same boat- LOA and Under Waiver Review since end of Dec. We did email and heard back from admissions about a month ago. They said they haven't gotten to her file yet. Gave no time frame. We went thru waiver process with usafa and it was very different. She had a waiver liason that kept us informed thru every ami submission. After initially being denied a waiver she was granted one after she submitted the requested rebuttal information. Amazimg that each SA works so differently and on such different time frames. We are patiently waiting-🙂!

I am a BGO with a candidate who holds an LOA and is awaiting a medical waiver review for appointment as well. USNA Medical responded to their status inquiry via phone and email last week. Essentially the response was assuring the candidate that they are reviewing cases as quickly and efficiently as possible and to continue to be patient.

I’m in the same boat as you all as well. LOA with medical DQ, medical waiver has not been requested. Glad to know I’m not the only one

There is no need to reach out to USNA Admissions about Medical Waivers. You will be considered and informed if appropriate. Every call to check status just takes time away from dealing with the task at hand.

KaresM - Your case is different. You're not going to receive anything from DoDMERB until and unless USNA requests something. Check your email :wiggle:

Precisely.

There are not huge staffs of people working the medical waivers as their primary focus. I suspect the same team of medical personnel who supports Admissions is also involved with the usual 2/c pre-comm physical process, dealing with any late-breaking 1/c commissioning issues and oh, yes, advising the Superintendent and Commandant on COVID-19-related issues for current mids and planning ahead for management of the incoming class, and another oh yes, managing a vaccination program. They are being pulled every which way by high-priority demands. They examine each case carefully in the light of current policy and past precedent, aiming for a quality review rather than a rubber stamp. I am sure that is what applicants want.

This is a process the applicant cannot control or goose along. It’s frustrating, it’s messy, and a great introduction to life as part of a military system.

Thank you for the response! I just want to make sure I'm doing everything I can to receive admission into the academy, so I apologize for the persistence.

Better to make errors of commission than omission, most of the time. I wanted to nudge the anxious masses of applicants into imagining who’s on the other end of those emails and vmails and pause to think outside their own situation.

Yep, it is the same with me. Please let me know if you hear anything!

Just figure that most of us will know by April 15th. My DS isn't worried. Just mom and dad. Question is how many times a day are you refreshing the admissions portal?

All the time, all the time! Kills me that it is taking so long!
