How often does the Academy request AMI’s for a waiver? I’ve seen a lot of people here saying that they have gone back and forth with AMI’s before receiving a desicion on their waiver process, however the admissions representative from the Academy told me that they rarely ask for AMI’s. If you have experience with the USNA medical waiver process, is this true?

My specific disqualificaiton is Asthma so if you have any insight on the process for a waiver for Asthma that would also be appreciated.

Thank You!

All waivers....ALL waivers are a case-by-case basis...and Academy/ROTC by Academy/ROTC basis.

More simplistically...YOU are and applicant of ONE. Generalities get folks in trouble, which is why I never do it and I'm the most knowledgeable guys about DoDMERB :wiggle:

Also, do you recommend I send additional information about my condition since it wasn’t really discussed in depth during my medical exam? My asthma has never caused my any problems (only one asthma attack at 6 years old) and has never inhibited me from performing physical activities. For example, I’ve participated in three sports in both high school varsity and club; soccer, track, and swimming. As well as 60 mile weekly average cross country biking and mountain biking & hiking for fun. Would it be helpful to have my physician report that my Asthma hasn’t inhibited me in any way?
