I so enjoyed this.
And I so miss it...

A good point is made in this video, that a ship is a collection of metal and wires, but the crew brings it together. It’s a different kind of leadership than Army and Marine Corps leadership on the ground. Pulling together a group of people to perform well as part of the human force that brings a complex ship and its many systems to life, and fights and operates that ship, thousands of miles from home and often from shore, is a leadership and teamwork challenge that can be exhausting and profound at the same time. Add in cold salt air, the Northern Lights, foreign ports...

Some things don’t change...corn dogs, burgers, sugar cookies.
 
My first ship was USS Forrest Sherman DD-931. She was the first destroyer built after WWII.

This Forrest P. looks like a great ship and a great duty station.
