My wife went to West Point and was med boarded out after two and half years. (2007) She had two knee surgery’s from playing on army rugby team, she broke her humerus in half while doing pull ups for a pt test, she also had one deployment to the Stan cause she speaks 8 languages. She was in country for four months in a combat zone advising Colonel Pendergast in towns meeting. Acting as the MI officer. Her arm is all ****ed up and her knee is killing her. We are starting the process of getting VA benefits for these issues. If anyone out there has any advice please let us know. Thanks for any info you may have in advance.

Your state and county should have veterans services offices where certified VSO’s work to help veterans obtain their benefits. They know the process, can advise on required documentation and how to get it.

Veteran organizations such as VFW, American Legion, AMVETS and others often have certified VSOs at their posts who can help.

I can’t say enough good stuff about the DAV, a non-profit. They have mobile vans with certified VSOs which go to places like Walmart parking lots. Not sure what they are doing during COVID - you’ll want to go to their website. They reviewed my medical record, sticky noted several things I would have overlooked, and coached me on the process. They have seen it all.

@Impulsive Are you a VSO? Thoughts?

I cannot stress enough that your wife should get an accredited VSO service officer to assist her with her claim. DAV and VFW have the most expansive service programs, along with the Legion. Feel free to shoot me a DM also. I work with a VSO as well and could connect you with one of our national service officers.
