DS called MOC today and if I get this right, here is what we learned: 1) VA had 89 nominations to USMMA; 2) 6 slots available for the state (yikes!); 3) academy cut half of the 89; and, 4) of the remaining 45-ish, 3 have Principal nominations (none of which have accepted or declined as of today). Hopefully our notes are accurate and I am passing along accurate info. (She did say DS is "still in it".). Can someone verify if I have this right... A principal nomination can get charged to various different MOC's? Does anyone have a feel for DS' chances if he has two MOC nominations for a single academy?

I wouldn't stress so much about the numbers... Kings Point is not a well known school to those students from states that are land locked....so many appointments from those land locked states go unused and are redistributed to other deserving nominees from other states.

Comment for discussion: Some MOC don't get the nomination process. Why would they leave their slate completely empty if there are qualified applicants? Ignorance? Parochialism? Case in point after checking with VA MOC to see if they would nominate USMMA candidates outside their congressional district, they responded yes. Packaged was assembled and overnighted to MOC in Oct. On March 26 they published list of nominees. DS not on list, in fact no one was nominated to USMMA from the district. I think they just don't get it. They must believe that they are Judge, Jury and Executioner. BTW never received email nor letter stating any reason why a nom was not granted. I am attempting to close with MOC to see their side of story- confused as they may be.

As of 2006 there were 576 VA folks taken into MMA so bout 11-12 per year over time. Many kids have multiple noms so all said I think the chances are pretty good if you are a strong candidate.

Where is the list available that you referred to about who were this year's nominees?
