Hi everyone,

Just having some confusion with admissions and wanted to me advice about vaccinations.

I have many of the required vaccines but am missing some because they would like for the vaccines to be given within the last 4 years. With that being said could I not file the paperwork and get them on R-day? I read that somewhere but am not sure.

From the 2028 parents Facebook page:

Hi. My name is Denise and I am the point of contact for immunizations. Deb graciously allows me to join your group so I can post some information and answer questions.

I’ll start by commenting on a few of the most FAQs.

*Your child will need an additional dose of polio. This is in addition to the completed childhood series.
*If the Tdap (tetanus) shot in record is before December 31, 2018, you child will need another dose. Please ensure that this is Tdap and not just the Td. Wherever you go to receive the immunizations will know the difference.
*If your child has not started the Hepatitis A series, please have them start now. We will ensure that they finish when they are here. (We contact them via email to let them know when their timing has come).
*If your child has not ever received any vaccines, no problem! Please make an appointment with your provider and they will get you started. Again, we will contact the cadets when it is time for their next dose.

Some additional comments.

*Some of the paperwork does not address allergies. Please have your child let me know if they have any allergies to foods, medications or stinging insects. Plus the reaction that they had. They can write it in on the form or include it in the email. This will save some of the back and forth emails.
*Also, include the MEDCOM 829. I need to have that for their records.
*While it’s not required, sending your child’s immunization record is very helpful to me.
*Send the packet to me in one PDF file. Email is on the front of the packet.
*If you have already had your appointment with the provider and just found out your child needs additional immunizations, it is not necessary to make an additional appointment. You can send in the paperwork that you receive when the immunizations are given.
*Immunizations can be found at: Walgreens, RiteAid, Costco, CVS, Minute Clinics and the local state health department, just to name a few places to find them.
*Email is the best way to contact me. My address is on the front of the immunization packet that is on the portal.
*Emails are answered in the order that they are received. Please allow two weeks for processing. Once I have received the paperwork, I will respond to the email with the status of the packet. GREEN—good to go.
PENDING/YELLOW—something is needed. Email will tell you what it is. RED—I have not received anything from your child.

Whew. That’s a lot of information that I just gave you. I hope that it helps.

Beat Navy! 💛🖤

you will only need the dates, if you know the dates, enter them on the form. If you are missing any vaccines, go get them now if possible.

Get all of your vaccines as soon as you can.

And bring the proof with you as required - or you will get double doses like my son, who left the proof on the kitchen table. ;)

I have been accepted for the class of 2029. I have a question about the immunization form I need to submit before I-Day. I am also Navy dependent and asked the Naval Hospital to fill out the form since it requires a nurse or doctor to complete and sign the form. Their staff said they don't do this, but they gave me my shot records and told me to complete it and they will review and sign it. I have received two meningococcal vaccines (age11 and age 17), but the form is asking which brand names I received (Menatra, Menveo, Bexsero, Medquafil... or others) The Navy record just shows "Meningococcal C conjugate vaccine" when I was 11 and "Meningococcal conjugate vaccine" this past September - no brand names. How do I know which one to fill in? Thank you in advance to anyone that has successfully navigated this small barrier and can provide guidance.

Nothing like doing planks and push-ups with port and starboard aching arms.
As was the norm for decades and decades back when USNA did not use your prior vaccination record and just gave everybody the full list just as was also done at the various service Boot Camps.

It does not matter what kind of Meningococcal Vaccine you have as long as you have it after your 16th birthday and within the last 5 years. For my DS, they only wrote the date and that's all they need. Complete the immunization form, have the doctor's office sign it, and upload it afterwards.

I agree with everyone. Get what you are missing as early as now.

My son is updated with all his vaccines and recently got the adult polio vaccine. He has uploaded all the required documents twice since his appointment in March because his Immunization packet keeps on getting rejected. Yesterday we noticed that USMA Portal initially had "USMA FORM 40-1 (Feb 2023)Previous Editions Obsolete" version that he filled. This form is what his portal offered as a downloaded document in mid-March. Yesterday we noticed that the new forms in the Immunization packet are dated "USMA FORM 40-1 (March 2025)Previous Editions Obsolete". He refilled that form and submitted and it is being reviewed.

Has anyone experienced this? If it gets rejected again he will call and email to follow up.

CALL THE CLINIC. The clinic will directly answer your questions. They want to help your cadet--and mama, you can make the call.

Thank you!!! I’m trying to encourage him to do the follow up himself, but I line the advice that I can do it too!!!

This is one that you can do--because the clinic is open while he is at school. Just call...tell them what is going on--and they will help you.

The form does look different now, I noticed this a few days ago. Also, if anyone is wondering, the Clinic said that if you cannot get all the required amount of vaccines due to time constraints and waiting periods, they will finish them while at West Point.
