I know this has been addressed previously in this forum, but I saw this post earlier today (more free time than usual while in ROM) and it reminded me that there are profoundly awesome people (no matter which gender they identify with) at USNA, all service academies and our entire, larger U.S. Military familiy (including military spouses and extended families.)

To be clear, I still hate this place :) but it's hard not to be positive and proud when you get the privilege to serve with and under people llike Ms. Usadi and so many others.

I was especially moved to post this in light of recent comments by a certain cable "news" (aka entertainment) host questioning, denigrating and belittling the role of women in the U.S. Military.

Read Ms. Usadi's story above and try not to be moved; and see how Tucker Carlson couldn't be more wrong.

Unlike the cable tv host who road his family's and stepmother's coattails into private prep schools and who has never served anything beyond his own self-promotion, Ms. Usadi's story -- and her much deserved success through relentless, selfless hard work supporting others -- is what is so right and has always been right, about America, USNA and today's military.

Based on my experiences here, I would be willing to bet my life (because that's essentially what we are committing to do) that any and all of women Mids I know here at USNA are likely far smarter, possess more grit and resiliency, are more dedicated to supporting things that matter, work tirelessly to uplift others and if needed to be, are exponentially more lethal than Tucker Carlson could ever be.

While there will always be real issues and challenges, today is a genuinely awesome day @ USNA -- for so many reasons. So much to be grateful for -- including at the very top of that list - the women who lead and serve in our Brigade.

This is an awesome post. I do not know Lillian personally, but I have heard from many that she is outstanding in all aspects- and especially as a friend.

Tucker Carlson's comments were idiotic and demeaning, but I very much enjoyed reading the response by senior leadership in all branches.

After you review Tucker Carlson’s comments about the proper role of women, feel free to PM me about design flaws of the Large Hadron Particle Collider.

As a female who is excited to someday serve her country, Carlson’s statement was incredibly insensitive and rude. Of course, I didn’t take it to heart since the man has obviously never read the countless stories about the incredible women in our military. Becoming more inclusive and diverse does not make the military a mockery, it makes us stronger.

I'll leave it with Shannon Kent's husband:

There are women serving in a number of JSOC and SMU's that don't even get counted as military. And they apparently don't write books or choose to appear on television or the lecture circuit.
