Very frustrated

I apologize that I can't speak as a college reapplicant, but I'd say that anything is still possible. I was offered a year of civil prep about a month ago, and I am probably going to accept it. My RC offered this to me because I was fully qualified, yet my chances of direct admission were slim because of district competitiveness. On my AOG scholarship papers that I received last week, it stated that I could still get an appointment this year, but it might be last minute or very unexpected to say the least.
Was the box with offer of civil prep on your portal under overview? DD's was until she logged in this morning and it is now gone.
My apologies for the late reply. I just checked and my offer box has disappeared as well. I am for sure that it was there (purple color box) several days ago. I am just assuming that they are updating it/unlocking those additional files of information that were not previously available to us!

May I ask which school your DD is leaning towards - if she is planning on accepting the AOG? I hope I get to meet her in the future.
DD has changed her mind and will be attending MMI. Have you made a decision?

Yes! I will be attending MMI this fall. Congratulations to your DD!

Thank you and congratulations to you also! Looks like quite a few of you girls will be attending MMI together (DD went to SLE with Kathy Baker's daughter also attending MMI).

Hi Teragram - Can you share the reasons for the change to Marion? I'm looking at NWP right now. Thanks in advance.

Yes, at first glance we looked at it from a financial point of view. She has a 4 year AROTC scholarship and that combined with academic scholarships was giving her a full ride. NWP was the least out of pocket for us because the 2nd semester she could use her in state scholarships to cover the cost. She also has been in JROTC for 4 years (leadership up to Battalion Commander) so she thought military school was not essential. However, the more research we did and the more she thought about it, she feels MMI is a better choice for the following reasons:
1) JROTC may have taught some of what she will need but living it 24/7 is a whole different world
2) MMI gets the majority of AOG scholars each year so she felt that she wanted to be amongst her peers
3) MMI's SAP program is run by West Point graduate
4) MMI has 100% acceptance rate for AOG scholars
5) MMI is accredited 2 year college so any credits are transferable in the unlikely case she does not go to WP
6) the state school she would attend 2nd semester is somewhere a lot of her HS friends will be and a bit of a party school...she wants to stay focused on WP and be around others focused on same thing

It is a very personal decision and every school has their pros and cons. We just have decided that as long as we can make it work financially MMI is the best place for her. Hope that helps.

Thank you very much for the detailed response, Teragram! You mentioned several factors that I SHOULD consider as well.

Do you happen to know NWP's acceptance rate for AOG scholars?

I do not, but I do know that they have a much higher number of Falcon Foundation recipients in their program.

We started a Facebook page if you would like to join and get to know others (all schools welcome). It is "USMA AOG Scholars Class of 2018".
