I have tried to do some research on the forum about Vice President nominations. There doesn't seem to be much talk or information about this nomination in general. It is my understanding that it is strictly administrative and done by admissions at each academy. Does that mean that if you apply and receive a VP nomination, they will offer you an appointment? Was curious what information people have regarding this nomination from past experience. It seems that it is similar to the LOA process and it appears and no one really knows how or why.

To my understanding, after everyone applies the information is sent to the service academy. You are correct, the service academy handles the choice of who to give it too. Generally from what I have read about it, it shows up in your portal and if it does you receive an appointment. This nomination usually only goes out at the very end of the appointment cycle as they use it to get cadets they wouldn’t otherwise be able too (ie not winning a nomination). Although this nomination source can only have 5 people at a service academy and therefore are very rare. Also this is just from what I have gathered I personally have no experience with admissions besides applying for an appointment and doing research on the process.

I thought that all nominations had to be in by January 31st or you were disqualified? If the VP Nominations can show up until late in the appointment cycle, that statement can't be true. So maybe the VP Nominations can come at any time? Maybe admissions knows they want to offer these people an appointment and they just wait until the end.

You submit it by January 31st. Imagine it like a big MOC slate instead of 10 people on the slate where one can get charged to the appointment it has everyone who applied for the vice president nomination. Even if you get on your nomination slate it doesn’t mean you get an appointment just like if you apply for vp you don’t necessarily get one. The vp nomination will only show up on your portal if you will be charged to it. Generally they wait till the end to charge the people they want to it. The reason it is usually at the end is they don’t want to charge someone who they could have just charged to a different source since they only get 5 people in the academy through this nomination. Just like the other nominations the slate needs to be into the service academy by January 31st but when they decide the winners to those slates is up to the service academy.

Items in the candidate’s application under their control have to be submitted by 1/31.
MOC slates must be submitted by 1/31.
Others noms under the control of the SA are in play until cycle end. Example, the SECNAV noms for enlisted personnel that can be used for successful NAPS/USMAPS/USAFAPS attendees in late spring, VP nom, etc.

After applying online for a VP nomination, no onscreen acknowledgement nor email acknowledgment was received. There did not seem to be any problems upon completing, but wondering if this is normal?

When I completed the VP nomination, I received a "Thank you for your submission" at the bottom of the screen. I took a screen shot of it, but that is all I received - no email.
