I'll be doing an overnight stay in March. Any reccomendations on a cheap mode of transportation from most likely JFK to USMA because I will be going by myself.

One option:
Take the subway or the shuttle bus (http://www.nyairportservice.com/) from JFK to Grand Central Station. Then take the Metro-North train to the Garrison station (http://as0.mta.info/mnr/schedules/sched_form.cfm ). Then take a taxi from the train station to West Point.

Another option:
Take the subway or shuttle bus (http://www.nyairportservice.com/) to the Port Authority bus terminal. Then take the Shortline bus (http://tinyurl.com/cesyun) from there to West Point.
