I know I have seen this question addressed on the forum previously, but I've searched for about 20 minutes and cannot find it. I remember seeing somewhere that USAFA is offering windshield tours on academy grounds (minus the cadet quarters) Any information on this would be greatly appreciated!

We are on way to USAFA windshield tour. You can register from the site. Google for USAFA windshield. I got an email back from them that as long as it does not snows, the tour is open. We are keeping our fingers crossed as we get into New Mexico now from Tx.

It's actually a bit tricky to find!

Yes. Thank you. It’s an adventure so far with kids. We have not seen this much cold weather in our lives. It’s 10f in Amarillo right now. Next stop is Pueblo, CO
WOW! You are getting close! Be careful that last bit from Pueblo to COS is like FT Worth to Dallas - lots of people driving fast that make that route often. I take it you passed on The Big Texan, home of the 72 oz Steak in Amarillo? You can attempt the 1 hour challenge on the way back.

Here is one of the threads and another thread on a similar topic is linked in the one above. It seems that there are mixed reviews as to if the windshield tour is worth the travel or if it is best to just look up videos/ images online. My family and I decided not to make the trip out to CO. I ended up searching and finding a lot more videos on youtube about the academy and tours online(in addition to the one on the website) which were very helpful. Whether your family decides to make the trip or not- good luck!

In my opinion the pictures and videos would never replace actually seeing USAFA in person, even if it is only through the windshield. I agree that isn’t necessary to see the Academy before you attend. However, there is no way for the online video to convey the size, terrain, and atmosphere of USAFA.

Just finished USAFA tour, there is no doubt even the windshield your is way better than any online pictures, videos.
