Mullen is proud of the practical application of theory the VMI engineering curriculum offers, something, he says, is not always found in engineering schools.
"An engineer that can't build anything isn't worth anything. To be a good designer, you have to know how things are built. In my opinion, most engineering programs spend way too much time on book work and not enough hands on," Mullen said.
