Hi everyone,
I'm 3q with multiple noms, did an overnight in the fall. I haven't heard anything for months now. I am seeing a lot of people on the USMA social media sites (and some on here) getting offers. I wonder if my odds are dwindling. I am keeping busy with school, sports, church, family, and other things. I have a 4 year ROTC scholarship, but I can't help but feel that it's getting late in the cycle. Is this a misapprehension? Anyone else feel like this?

It is not late in the cycle. Prime time is just getting started. The last two weeks of April are late in the cycle. Pretend you cannot see the weekly acceptances. Set your heart that the deadline for notification is 1 May. You must wait. Keep faith.

I have seen the current admissions data as a Field Force rep. There is still a long way to go to fill out the class of 2027. Whatever you have seen on social media or this forum is not reflective of the current status of offers of appointment at West Point. All that should matter to you at this point is you are qualified and you have not received a rejection letter.

I tell my students to focus on three things during this time:
  1. Focus on your school work, maintain your grades and avoid 'Senioritis'
  2. Work on improving your fitness to prepare for the program that you plan to attend this summer or fall
  3. Commiserate with your high school classmates as many of them are waiting on scholarship awards and college admissions so share your stories and support each other
For #2, having a Plan B & C are critical. Many cadets/midshipmen go to a year or two of college. Plan to join the on-campus ROTC unit and continue to build your résumé as your reapply for an appointment as a college freshman.

Best of luck with your wait for good news!

It is not late in the process, much to the contrary…. Last year my DS #1 was a principal nom. with 3Q letter in January and did not see his offer till around the middle of March! He knew it was coming but took a while…. This year, DS #2 was 3Q in January, principal nom and got his offer Feb. 3rd. It has so much to do with geographics and other factors ”behind the curtain” …. If you have not been rejected you are still in the running and stand a good chance…. If you haven’t heard by May then maybe be a little more into your Plan “B” but most offers have still to go out and we are in the early stages. You may see fifty people talking on social media and twenty-five got offers and it appears everyone but you is in - but remember you may just be seeing the 25 talking out of 50-75, or 100 offers extended so far ….. a mere fraction of the 1,200 that will eventually make up the class! It doesn’t matter the number of offers - that last offer extended will be just as much a part of the Class of 2027 as the first… as long as one spot is left and you are still in the running - you have a chance - and if you pull all your hair out waiting, it will just save the barber time when you get there…. Keep the faith and good luck!

DS has received communication he has been found fully qualified and has been added to the national waiting list. Any feedback about this process? The chances of an offer of appointment from this status?

My son originally received a 2Q letter at the same time DODMERB posted him as disqualified. As of today he still shows "under waiver review" but its been crickets. Trying to remain hopeful that since there are no NV candidates on the board that my son is still in the running. I guess at this point, no news is still good news. (Fingers crossed and prayers sent)

You are not late. It is not late now. A month from now will be at the end of the cycle.
If you are still waiting there is no way to know if you will be accepted or if you will not be accepted.
As we inch closer to 1 May, there is usually a day when it seems that a lot of applicants who have not heard receive a TWE...and you still might be waiting.
You will know by 1 May. Keep faith.

Same for my DS. Stay positive! We are still hopeful for good news. Good luck to all!
