I am a “candidate” with the Academy and was recently conditionally awarded the Type 7 - 4 year AFROTC scholarship. My medical status with DoDMERB in reference to the Academy and the AFROTC is “Pending Waiver Submission/Review” due to a D141.50 based on an allergy that I have when eating shellfish. I have not eaten any form of shellfish in years and the reaction that I had when I did was nausea. However, at DoDMERB’s request, I was allergy tested and tested positive.
Is there a chance that I will be granted a waiver and allowed to accept my scholarship or be accepted into the Academy? Also, is there anything else that I or my family can do to show that this allergy is not something that would hinder my performance in the Academy or the AFROTC?
