Waiver Process?

Ok, still a little fuzzy on the waiver process...Does DoDMERB review for waivers at the service academies request, or does the academy review waiver with recommendation of DoDMERB? What is DoDMERB's role in the process?

Each Service Academy and ROTC program render their own waiver decisions, "if" DoDMERB determines an applicant does NOT meet medical standards. DoDMERB plays no role in those decisions and provides no recommendation.

It is as independent as independent can be.

The only role DoDMERB plays is to notify the applicant "if" the waiver authority requests additioanl tes(s), eval(s), and/or information prior to rendering their decision.
