Good EVening, I wanted to check on here about the process because I couldn't find the answer in the DODMERB packet. I did my original DODMET Exams in August, I got a letter for DODMERB needing AMI. I went to the appointment and got my results received last week, Wednesday I got DODMERB uner Review as new status instead of waiting for remedial. My question is that since I had to get an AMI request is review for waiver review or something else. I have not recieved a letter from USAFA saying a waiver is being processed though. Thank you.

It is up to each academy to pursue a waiver. If they deem you to be competitive they will initiate the waiver. My DS received a waiver from USAFA in september. It is a long process, but they contacted him in addition to DODMERB.

Did you get a straight up DQ from DODMERB in August?

If not, here’s my take on the situation...

When the DODMERB reviewer looked at your packet in August, he saw something that is potentially DQ BUT couldn’t make the call based on the current info.

An AMI was requested so that reviewer can make an informed decision. Now that the AMI has been submitted, the DODMERB reviewer is relooking your packet with the additional info.

At this point, the DODMERB can qualify you at his level because he felt comfortable based on the AMI that you’ve meet the DODI Accessions standards. On the other side, the reviewer will DQ you because the AMI showed you didn’t meet the medical standards. In this case, the academy will decide whether or not to pursue a waiver.
