Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

Hahaha true...now we can get to asking about the new Army Football uniform...... and why everyone keeps forgetting about the Coast Guard....

They don't ALWAYS forget about the Coast Guard..... but they typically do when it matters. HA.

I was at the Pentagon once, representing the Coast Guard in some joint meeting (with a bunch of O-5s and O-6s.... and I was the lone Coastie, an O-2). The meeting was celebrating 100 years of Army aviation. The broucher the Army colonel was passing around mentioned everyone but the Coast Guard (including the Smithsonian) but was asking for support from the different services. I had to diplomatically say that if each service was being asked to support, they should also each be listed. Another colonel figured out what I was alluding to and said "Oh, geez, we need to add the Coast Guard here too."

HAHA.

But if SAF can figure out when everyone keeps forgetting about the Coast Guard (and its budget) I think that would be.... just great.

Since most of the folks on this forum are military leaders or want to be military leaders, I will point out an issue that you as leaders will need to think about. Although the initiative may be well intentioned it may be an ethical violation. The Joint Ethics Regulation (JER) limits support to nonfederal entities (NFE) unless it meets a 7 part test. This event is sponsored by an NFE. In fact, the group has a trade mark on the name. This appears to be similar to the ice bucket challenge that was determined to be inappropriate while on duty in uniform.
