I'm currently a sophomore in High School looking to attend the military academy
My father graduated from the Academy in '91 and served as an Army Ranger and later in the Reserves

GPA:
Weighted - 4.4
Unweighted - 4.1
PSAT - 1260
I estimate that I am probably in the top 10% of my class and could have the chance of being 1st or 2nd

Sophomore Year - 2 AP's and the rest honors
Junior Year - 4 AP's and the rest honors

Sports:
- I played Varsity Basketball as freshman and started my sophomore year. I predict I will be all area player my junior or senior year. I will probably be captain my junior or senior year
- I will play Varsity Baseball this year as a sophomore

EC:
- volunteered 30+ hours (I think I need to improve on this)
- student council vice president (will run for exec. president my senior year)
- Eagle Scout
- I got the opportunity to be a part of a gym class in my school that works with kids with disabilities every day
- On my school's American Computer Science League team
In the Future:
- Apply to Boy's State
- Apply to NHS and possibly run for a position
- Apply to be a peer mentor at my school
- Apply to SLE my junior year

I believe I will do well on the CFA. I don't really have an estimation for those numbers now, however, I am very physically fit and don't believe that will be a problem.

Is there anything else I should be looking to do or improve on? Thank you for reading this and hopefully you have some advice.

I think you are looking pretty great assuming your rank is in top 10%. GPA's seem to vary widely by school so they are not that helpful. My son's 10th grade PSAT was same as yours I think at 1260 but turned into 1470 on the official PSAT in October of junior year after doing a prep course. I recommend taking a prep course or doing Khan Academy self-study junior year as I bet you could hit 1400's or 1500's on SAT with some prep.

You look great. Keep up the good work. Take Kaplan SAT course.

My daughter helped special needs kids in gym class ... nothing formal. Gave up her study hall. My son became friends with one of the students ... he came to all of the school’s basketball games.

My son went to the coach and asked to award him a jersey on senior night. The coach agreed.

Last night my son lost in sectionals. The coach’s wife talked to me at half time. She congratulated my son on the USNA appointment. And she wanted me to know that the coach was very impressed that my son thought of the special needs kid (he’s actually 22 and graduated last year) - she said that the teachers at the school admire him ... not just for his accomplishments - but because he is the nicest kid who thinks of others.

Keep us updated here.
