my high school doesnt offer any courses higher than trig in the math department or physics in the science department. i've been told that its probably best to take a calc class if it is available to me during high school so im going to be looking for another school where i can take night courses or saturday classes for calc.

is stopping at physics good enough and are there any other classes i should be looking to take besides calc outside of school?

I took Environmental Science freshman year, Biology sophomore year, Chemistry junior year, and I am taking Physics my senior year. All of these courses were CP Science (College Prep) and I am now stopping at Physics. I would say youre in good shape if you received good grades in Biology and Chemistry as well.

As for math, I am taking Honors Calculus my senior year. The Academy loves seeing Trig, Analysis, and Calculus, especially if they're Honors or AP. If you take Calculus at another school on a Saturday, I think the Academy would look highly upon your committment to taking a course outside of school, especially if it's a course as challenging as Calculus.

I'll say it for the thousandth time. Take what you will enjoy and be successful in. If you get into the Academy, you'll take calc and chem and physics and what not. If you don't, there are all sorts of other routes to service.
