Hey I hope I can clear this up for everyone!
I too got the same letter and what I've hear before, they send that letter to everyone that applies for a Vice-Presidential Nomination just to let the applicant know that their application for a VP nomination was received. Its almost like the academy confirming on file that you applied for one.
Its up to the academies themselves now to determine who should get the VP nomination (usually one or two kids every year will get it).
I've already been rejected by the Naval Academy (didn't get a nomination and they wouldn't pursue a medical waiver because of that).
Nevertheless, I hope those still waiting to hear back get the great news of getting an appointment. For those that didn't or won't, don't let it get to you, there's other paths of becoming a military officer and you should be proud you made it this far. Things tend to work for the better in life, sometimes it just takes a little longer
