What does this status change mean?

My DS heard back from his admissions officer about his status changes. He did confirm that the Pending Congressional Notification was in reference to the Congress having the time to call the candidate first. However, he didn’t explain or say anything about the portal now being blank. It was great to hear what the status he did have meant, but would be so nice to see it back in there too.

I posted the below on another thread but I thought it may fit here as well.

My DS received an email from his MOC stating they were informed that an appointment is being offered by USNA and it will appear in his portal on this date (Dec 28th.) Which was five days away. He received that email a year ago today and it was in his portal on the 28th of December. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU !

Did your DS's admissions officer confirm that he will be offered an appointment?

As many here are aware, USNA launched a new Admission platform last year, and as with every new software launch, there is a series of continuous improvements. This may result in changes to the system from time to time, and there is little benefit to trying to analyze the meaning of every little change.

The process for giving notice of appointments has been discussed here extensively. Once USNA has made the decision to offer an appointment, they normally give the nominating MOC a few days to notify the candidate themself. Some do this by random phone call (so answer your phone) some by email, and some don't do anything all. Under the old BGIS system, BGO's were aware that this was in process with a Pending Notification entry, but it was not included in the Candidate portal. (If the MOC didn't chose to make the notification themself, USNA would simply send the notice and it would appear in both Candidate and BGO portals.

If Candidates were seeing the Pending Notification entry in their portal, I suspect this was an inadvertent error in the system during the continuous improvement process, as it defeats the purpose of giving the MOC the opportunity to give their nominees the good news. Admissions (or probably USNA IT) likely discovered and in process of correcting the error.

Bottom line, the Admissions platform is still evolving, and you may see temporary changes from time to time. There is no reason to overthink or anticipate what a change may mean. If you get an Appointment, you will know it.

He confirmed that the previous status was referencing the fact that the MOC was given the time to notify of an appointment. He didn’t go any further than saying that.

CPR Status is back up in my portal

EDIT: Status is now gone again, must've been a blip

If y’all want to save some worry/headache/stress…highly recommend just shutting everything down. Even if something does change, it can wait until Monday.

Enjoy your friends and families. And parents, enjoy your kids. Be present in this moment. Because it’s your last one with them before EVERYTHING changes…..
