My high school days have officially come to an end. I have a pretty set workout routine, with running, lifting, and other forms of cardio involved. Of course, I’m using a lot of my free time with family and friends. What else should I be doing to prepare for basic?

Offer to do projects for and with your mom and dad. The gift of time with them will be a priceless gift, as they watch you eagerly get ready to launch. Giving to others gets you into a servant leadership frame of mind.

Clear out old stuff from your room and get it organized.

Read for pure pleasure.

Make good choices. You are in the "spend time with friends and family but add a layer of bubble wrap" phase. You have worked so hard up to this point, one single bad choice can wreck it - so think about consequences. Entering BCT healthy and at the peak of your game is where you need to be mentally and physically. I would not be concerned with learning trivia knowledge at this point because you are likely cramming on material that is not on the test. You will receive a personal copy of Contrails upon arrival and it will contain the answers you seek to memorize. You will not know your cadet chain of command names until you get there.

This!

Stay away from drugs, be cautious with booze, be more cautious with girls/boys, and stay away from activities that can get you hurt. Even a jammed finger playing flag football will not be a pleasant situation to figure out.

Thank you for this! I always feel as if there is more I could be doing to prepare...
