What happen now (post-appointment)?

Received an email from someone in Nominations and Appointments saying that the PTR will be out in the next two or so weeks. Definitely excited!
I wonder if the PTR will be online like that last couple years or if they will send a paper copy like pre-covid times. Did you get any insight on this from the person from Nominations and Appointments?

It will be emailed to each person individually! It will also be available online on the USNA website though. Here is the exact wording from the email:

"The next step will be the Permit to Report packet, which debuts in mid-April. The packet will be emailed to you directly, once it is ready for release."

That's my thought as well (along with the infinite wait for a decision from USAFA). USNA seems to be a very nice choice and might soon become my plan A, so maybe I'll see you there.
Best of luck to you! I didn't really expect to get an appointment from USNA at all, so when it came in (around two months before I got my USAFA appointment) I thought it over and slowly realized that maybe USNA was a better fit for me than USAFA.

Keep a close eye on this link below for ‘26 update. Your son should read through the links and hamburger menu items to get a feel for the “Permit to Report” items and other details.

Not sure what he has already completed…
- Vaccinations will be one of the first things to get going on.
- If he doesn’t have a regular tourist passport now, he should apply for one. He does NOT need it for I-Day and Plebe Summer (PS), but he will eventually. You can always send/bring it to him.
- Round up required identification papers.
- SF-86 security clearance form, can soak up a lot of time. Every address, foreign travel, etc.
- Resist the urge to start thinking about everything he might need. This isn’t regular college, in fact, it’s N*ot College. There will be a list of what he needs to bring. Wear the athletic shoes, a pair of shorts, polo shirt, have a gallon baggy with key paperwork, and a small daypack with required items.
- He should keep running and stay fit, do basic calisthenics. Run in bad weather and all times of day. Harden up legs gradually on pavement. Shin splints take down many
a plebe.
- Learn how to shave very fast. Multiple guys in a room, 1 shower, 1 sink.
- Wean off caffeinated drinks, all kinds, closer to I-Day.

Go search for the endless I-Day threads that pop up every spring like mushrooms after a rain!
Just to clarify, I am not sure what other vaccinations I should get prior to I-Day. Will I get them once I get to Annapolis or get them on my own time from now until then?

The needed vaccinations should be in the PTR...be sure to have proof of vaccines for I-Day. If you are missing something they will give it to you.

Thanks for asking! I was originally going for USAFA, but after hearing advice and help from others I ultimately decided to go Navy!
