Hello, I'm very new to this whole admissions process and I was wondering what an appointment was.

Please bear with me, and I apologize if I have annoyed any of you experienced members D:

Just a fancy word for "getting accepted" into any of the service academies

An appointment is the ultimate achievement at the end of a very long application process to one of the US Service Academies. It's somewhat the equivalent of getting accepted to an Ivy League college. The word "appointment" can be synonymous with "acceptance."

Hope this helps.

Oh okay thank you guys so much! I thought appointment was like an interview or something, which kind of got me worried.

you technically get accepted into the corps of cadets upon completion of beast (summer training) on A day so i guess to avoid confusion they refer to being accepted as being appointed to the academy

What is an appointment

It called dedication, commitment and sacrifice. It is the ultimate. People complain about pay taxes. Well, I think it is well worth it, if there are young men and women who attend the service academies. I am so very proud of them.
