What Qualifies as Passing CFA?

I know that the USAFA has released the averages that they would like you to meet for the CFA, but what constitutes as actually passing for a male?

I just took it today and did not reach any of the average scores, would I be disqualified from getting an appointment?

If there is a check mark next to the CFA test on your portal when the administrator uploads it, then you will know if you passed. No one knows the mínimums besides admissions if I am correct.

Once they have reviewed it they will either pass it (check mark), ask for a second take, or just disqualify you.

Thank you. I just want to make sure this is correct, because I got 0 pull ups, 9 minute mile, and only half of the sit ups and half the push ups.

I’m not sure you will get from zero pull-ups to passing in 18 days. Probably need to trim at least a minute off the mile too. Not saying never but your training will need to be incredibly intensive to make it to passing scores in the time you have remaining

if you work your heart out, you might be able to pass. I used this fitness guide when I was told to retake the CFA and it really helped me get passing scores.

Thank you. Do you know how long it takes, roughly, for them to ask for a retake?

Big piece of advice that really helped me is to practice it ALL together, like the test. It is not the individual events that hurt, it is the cumulative effect of all of them in such short time. Practicing them together can alleviate this.

But since you are crunched for time, all I can say is bang out those pulls, pushes, runs, and throws like your life depends on it. But make sure to take two days minimum before the test to allow your muscles to heal and recover

Excellent advice on here for the CFA! Push as hard as you can and good luck! As I ran the mile I really felt like trash :) but I took the advice I read in Sue Ross's "The Air Force Academy Candidate Book." (it's a good book, read it 😂) She interviewed an USAFA grad who said in all the moments he felt like giving up, he just dreamed of how nice it was going to be sitting in that pilot's seat one day! I know not everyone wants to be a pilot, so insert your dream AF job :)

AKnightTemplar, you don't have a whole lot of time, especially to get those pull-ups; but do your best and who knows? But take Midwesternman's advice and give it your all! 👍

For those of you reading the forums looking for advice for your future applications, I would 110% recommend starting push-ups TODAY. Often, it's hard to get the guts up to do a legit work-out super early on, but start those push-ups! Diligence is so important! I love this quote from Proverbs 21:5: "The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty." Prepare early. They will help strengthen all your muscles. I started doing push-ups in 5th grade, just doing one max set every day. I started at ~20 and got up to 125 in a row. Once time got closer I added sit-ups and pull-ups and ran right after the calisthenics. That helped a ton, you wouldn't believe how much time doing some work-outs prior will take off your mile. The day came, and I was able to max pull-ups and push-ups for the CFA; the rest of the test also went well. For my ROTC test, I was not instructed to stop at any particular max and I was able to do 83 push-ups in 60 seconds. I don't want to sound like a show-off or anything, I'm just saying get psyched up early and prepare! Start small and you will grow.

Best wishes, AKnightTemplar!!
