Kindly remind me the best way to pass along DS’s uniforms? Is Navy Marine Corps thrift shop the only place? My 2ndLt is heading to Pensacola and we want to ensure his Navy gear is put to good use. We are close to Annapolis. Thanks.

You could post it on one of the many Facebook groups, I’ve seen quite a few uniforms get picked up from those posts.

He could pass it on to the underclass.

This is not an uncommon issue and most 2nd LTs manage to figure it out. When my one of my roommates graduated, he gave away a lot of them such as the white socks, shoes, etc and what didn't "go" he gave to the Thrift Shop at the Naval Station.
Funny thing, approx 12 or so year later, he ended up transferring back to the Navy Reserve and sent out an email to our company mates to try to regain whatever he could at that point.

When our sponsor midshipman graduated he left a whole bag of stuff at our house. One of our rules of a sponsor is that everything be cleared out when they graduate. when I asked him he said that he didn’t want it and the uniforms had changed anyway, and the kids could have it. My kids have never had so much fun, trying on and wearing the uniform and clothing.

Recommend passing along to companymates or the thrift shop. There will be plenty of 2/C in his company looking for 1/C rank insignia who would greatly appreciate not having to pay for it at the uniform store. But for uniforms the thrift shop is best bet.

Keep the PT Gear shorts though! Many of us grads wear them to lounge around the house or to go running. They’re pretty comfy and last a long time.
