ive seen "remedial" a few times on here and it sounds like it's similar to a waiver. I'm wondering what this is? Can anyone explain what it is and what happens to needing one etc. Thanks!
Thanks so much.A candidate in DodMERB has three basic outcomes:
- qualified by DoDMERB, or
- disqualifed by DoDMERB or
- they need more information. Hence a remedial.
First a candidate goes through the DoDMERB questionnaire and examination. DoDMERB uses the questionnaire and the physician examiners notes to make a determination to notify the SA or ROTC authority if you are qualified or DQ'd. If DoDMERB needs more information, a remedial request is made of the candidate so they can make a more informed decision. The case 4Ryuan describes is one. Another example was a remedial request made of my DS who was in orthodontia at the time, and needed a DDS orthodontia questionnaire to confirm that DS would be completed and out of braces by the time he would report to the SA.
If a candidate is DQ'd, this information is provided to the SA or ROTC authority who can choose to either let it stand or request a waiver. DoDMERB never requests a waiver. Only the SA or ROTC authority does this, and on a discretionary basis.
I hope this adds clarity.
