What's needed ahead of CBT?

Does anyone know of a comprehensive list of items that candidates should buy/bring with them ahead of CBT? I've only been a forum member a short time but I thought I'd seen bits and pieces of this info in previous posts. Given that DS recently received his appointment and we are headed to USMA for an overnight visit in a few weeks we are looking to get ahead of the curve.

Your cadet candidate should receive detailed packing list from the academy once his portal is updated. Don’t over pack and load him down with too much on Rday....they will be issued more items on Rday and the cadets have to carry everything for the entire day. Don’t send him there with a rolling luggage, you don’t want him to be that kid . You’ll need to start shopping for some good boot socks. My son loves River Fox black boot socks. They are not cheap but well worth the $. I overbought last year and he didn’t bring all for Beast, but we took the rest to him on A day. Congratulations on the appointment and welcome to the West Point parent community. Joint the various FB group for parents...very supportive group of people.

My understanding is that once your DS officially accepts, there will be another significant round of paperwork, including a list of items to bring with you. There may be other items that are good to have but not required that you can pick up through the various threads here.

Your candidate will get a group of "mailings" through the portal every few weeks. Their will be much debate on the balance of items that they need to bring and what would be excessive.
