When did Army generals stop wearing what we called a "general's belt" with their BDUs (now ACUs)?

I was at my son's Advanced Camp graduation, and after seeing two general officers in ACUs, it occurred to me that neither was wearing the belt that they used to wear with BDUs. When did that stop?
 
It was only worn for ceremonial purposes with the BDU/ACU, I believe it was decided that it was a bit elitist and old fashioned
 
I was at a promotion ceremony for a one star this weekend and the belt was presented and the regulations were covered. Every General officer gets one and it is up to them when they wear it.
