One year ago, Mom and I were going thru this process for the first time. DS's Plan A came to an end March 2, 2023. Plan A, went to Plan B, which ended up becoming Plan C, which is where we are today. I've followed these forums for over a year learning so many things from so many people, for which I'm grateful. This forum led us to DS's Plan B. At the last minute, that didn't work out. Then Plan C. Which has now become reality.

So many parents and youngsters investing vast amounts of hard work and sweat equity and money to see their dreams of serving their country come true. We too have sat in the tea room on academy watch, looking for any nugget of information. I would like to tell all of you, parents and applicants, be patient. DS's journey was a 2 year process. Stay the course, stay focused on the destination, but don't lose sight of the journey.

Last year I told DS, sometimes the answer is no, yes, or, not right now. What are you going to do moving forward? Humility, grace, respect, diligence, perseverance, grit and determination can see you through. It's truly inspiring to see so many willing to serve. Plan A to Plan B to Plan C and today an appointment to Plan A.

Keep the faith

Hey hey, congrats to your DS! Awesome news after rolling with events and staying on task. (And as a parent it's always gratifying to have life reinforce the line you've been pushing for the last 18 years, so a small congrats to you too.)

Hi there St. Paul Dad, thank you. It's been a journey. Plan A was always USNA. Plan B folded (on their end) just days before his candidate visit weekend. After our discussion with the admin of Plan B, the sun hadn't even set and he had his application in for Plan C, MMI. Plan C turned out to be the conduit to his Plan A. He put forth the sweat equity, took on the challenge and went for it. He's determined to be a USMC officer and now he's even closer. He and his best friend from HS were the only two to apply to the academies. His best friend is at WP currently and now they'll BOTH be at the Army/Navy Game in December, on opposite sides of the field of course. LOL

An 18 year old high school senior who seeks to become a commissioned officer doesn't want to hear it might take until he or she is 20-21 years to begin that path. That seems like a million years. But it comes fast enough.

He's good with it. LOL
