I am currently a junior and was wondering when is a good date to apply for a congressional nomination? I heard that it was best to apply early but I don't know what month applications for nominations open. Thanks!

If you are aiming for class of 2025 at the SA, then this the time to apply for your senator/congressman/VP ( provided the last date has not passed). From your post you are saying that you are a junior ( class of 2026 at SA), then the right time will be spring/summer/fall of 2021.

Each elected official has their own process. Your cycle will open up sometime next year, probably summer.

Go to the “service academy nominations” pages in the websites of your two Senators and Representative to get a feel for their requirements in terms of due dates, application, interviews, etc. Many have virtual and f2f info sessions which you can attend.

Don’t forget if there is a change of incumbent, processes may change from year to year.

Part of a service academy application process is doing the work in researching primary sources. This is just the start.

What Capt MJ said. Each Congressmen's process is slightly different. Their websites will have additional information. If you do not see a schedule of informational meetings on their website, then email them.

My son turned in the two applications to his senators the day they were due (he hand carried them to the offices), and about one week before the due date for his representative. He ended up getting a nomination from one of the senators and the representative and is now a doolie/freshman.
