May I ask which university? If a school has a foreign language major that is among the critical languages and an AFROTC detachment, you should be able to utilize a scholarship at that school. My DS was awarded a foreign language AFROTC scholarship this year and is attending a state university.

On the more serious side, if you didn’t know, UN-L has a very robust study abroad program, which I’m sure the detachment will accommodate, if your DS either brings in some college credits are is prepared to do a little summer school.
Wish him the best of luck!
Good to think post HS, but also best to concentrate on finishing HS strong. Thanks, he is just beginning his Junior year and is starting to think post-HS.
Along the same lines and also federally funded:If your DS is a rising HS junior, consider the STARTALK programs if he is interested in exploring critical need languages before committing to a college major. Class sizes are small and some are at no cost to the participants.
STARTALK is a federal grant program funded by the National Security Agency and administered by the National Foreign Language Center at the University of Maryland. STARTALK grants pay for summer world language learning programs for critical need languages.
