Will I have the chance to learn to fly?

So I want to be a pilot and I’m going to apply, but I was wondering if I’ll get a chance to take flight lessons before I go into pilot training.

USAFA has several flying programs. There is a glider program that you can do in the summer as well as the academic year if you become a glider instructor pilot. There is also a powered flight program that flies the DA-40. The course is essentially an introduction to flying and you'll get about 10 hours of flight instruction. More importantly, it will give you a taste of what UPT is like.

There is also an aero club at the Academy where you can pay for your own flight training if you want to work on your PPL.
