So I’ve been barely passing my PreCalc class and AP physics class. Im performing well in my other classes though, with a B in AP Gov and A- In AP English. I’m obviously behind when it comes to math and science which is why I was offered prep school (1310 SAT). After finals, I’m not feeling confident enough that I performed well enough to keep my passing scores and it’s leaving me a little worried. If the worst happens and I end up with a D+ in one or both classes what will happen to my offer? I’d also like to state that, I do plan on addressing my defiencies in math/science while at the prep school so that I can make the subjects my strengths. In other words, the pattern of low grades in such classes will not continue.

I am not here to make excuses or for comfort, I would just like to ask for some input from anyone who might have been in my situation or not. Thank you all!

My teachers are really strict, and I don’t think they will curve my grade at all.

I wish I had more concrete news for you but, my DS is in a similar situation. He was offered and accepted the USNA Foundation program which is a sponsorship to a Prep School with a spot reserved for him in the USNA the next year. Anyway, he is hovering right between the C and D mark in his calculus. We called the prep school to find out if that would squash him out of the program. The head of the prep school answered with "The academy picked you for a reason. They believe in you and believe you will make a good officer. However, they are sending you to a prep school for a reason. Now you know that reason." If you continue to get the same grads at the prep school, then there may be issues.

Tough situation and a real catch 22. Challenge yourself and get less than stellar grades or take easy classes and inflate that gpa.

Sounds like you go to one of the few schools that actually challenge kids. So many schools today don't.

A 1310 is respectable. It could be better, but it's respectable. Best of luck to you, I'm guessing you'll be just fine.

My daughter got her first C ever this year in AP Calculus. She contacted her Regional Commander who told her that a C was not a problem. If it turned to a D, then she needed to let him know. It could be a different story at USMAPS. But, your best bet is to reach out to your main contact at USMAPS. They can tell you for sure. Good luck.
