Wisdom teeth extraction for ROTC?

Does anyone know if it is a requirement to have a wisdom tooth extraction before entering a ROTC program (likely Army or Navy). My DS has both Army, Air Force and Navy scholarships and is awaiting his school acceptances but wondering if he needs to have them out prior.

For Navy, no, he does not need them pulled before NSI. My older son, a 1/C, just had them pulled last week. He had to have a dental exam form filled out before commissioning, and it was recommended. He was advised to go ahead and do it.

Edit to add that my younger son will also need an extraction, and I'm planning on scheduling that sometime this spring. Trying to fit that in before finals or over a holiday wasn't ideal. . .

@NavyUMO - Not a requirement for AROTC. If ROTC, follow the guidance of the dentist or oral surgeon. If medically necessary, they will have time to get them out over a longer school break during ROTC. Mine finally had them out about 3 years into active duty after commissioning.

Here's my 2 cents. If his dentist has recommended it and he can find a convenient time to get it done before college I'd encourage him to do it. There's enough going on during college school breaks without having to factor that in. Sometimes last minute training opportunities arise in ROTC and he'd hate to have to say no because he's scheduled for a wisdom tooth extraction which conflicts.

If for some reason they are scared about getting it removed prior to DODMERB, I'd highly suggest getting them out once in college. Once you're in the fleet/army, it's super complicated to schedule (referral, time off from your MOS/rate school, etc)

The only time I got from the Navy was as I was processing out. Still have nightmares. ;-)
