Wrong SSN from USNA to DoDMETS/DoDMERB

Just wanted to share the craziness that has transpired in the last 24 hours for my DD. She completed her USNA application in November and immediately received an email to set up her DoDMETS account. Long story short, DoDMETS had her SSN wrong. She sent in a copy of her SSN card, the number was fixed in the system and she had no other issues on the portal. When she received the email to set up her DoDMERB account, she noticed that only the USMMA was listed. We thought it might've been because she had completed the USMMA application in December, had received a nomination, and had been contacted by a coach. Two weeks ago, she received an LOA for NAPS but USNA was still not listed on the DoDMERB portal. DD was starting to worry about USNA not appearing, but was trying to be patient. Well, yesterday, she was contacted by a USNA medical tech asking her if she was planning to schedule her medical appointments or if she wished to have her application withdrawn. YIKES talk about panic! DD responded to him pretty late late last night giving him an update of where she is in the process with DoDMERB (under waiver review for USMMA) and shared screenshots. The tech immediately responded thanking her for the update but asked her to contact DoDMERB because there was obviously something wrong, which most likely had to do with a wrong SSN on DoDMERB's end. I can not tell you how grateful we are that the USNA medical tech reached out to DD! It would've been awful to find out later that her application had been closed because they didn't have access to her medical status! Thankfully, DoDMERB also responded and they're working to fix the problem with her SSN and the USNA.

If you experience any issues with a wrong SSN when you get to the DoDMETS part, please be sure to check with the CIV team that the information is corrected between the SA and DoDMETS/DoDMERB too!

The SSN can be the root cause generator of many cascading issues.

The SSN flows from applicant> SA> DoDMERB > DoDMETS > DoDMERB > SAs

Any place a human hand-inputs the SSN into the system is a vulnerability.
