DS has MOC nom's for USNA, USMA, USAFA, USMMA. Has been awarded AFROTC 4 year type 7 and AROTC 4 year scholarships for his top 3 schools and he is awaiting results from NROTC-MO (his recruiter told him our district with 3 applicants represented well but no one will know until Maradmin publishes the Boards results). Dodmerb gave a DQ for a football injury but he has received waiver from USMA, AFROTC and we expect him to receive AROTC waiver in the coming days. We are awaiting waiver reviews from USNA & USAFA. DS sent email to RC to ask am I considered a 3q candidate? RC replied today: You are a 3q candidate but with such a competitive field in your district we will not be asking for an interview. Should he take this to mean he is definitely out of it for USMA? Should he express his interest for an AOG foundation scholarship?

He is not admissible to USMA without the interview so I certainly wouldn’t call it plan A.

I would concur with your assesment. My questions is wether or not he would be accessible to the AOG foundation scholarship to a prep school.

I don’t know that there is enough definitive evidence to say but I do know that there are fewer AOG scholarships than appointments so the odds are even worse. You have some good options with the ROTC and other academy possibilities.

IMO he should express interest in AOG Prep scholarship if he wants to attend USMA. His admissions liaison can recommend his file to AOG for review if he is a competitive candidate that will not be offered a slot this year.

I don't think your DS is totally out, as the interview can done last minute (at least for my region we can even do phone interview) or he can contact his FFR, if he has one, to ask for an interview just in case.

BUT, for your DS to get an offer, he needs luck. Many things could change from now to April.

DS should express interest/inquire as to AOG scholarship opportunity. Also, since a good portion of each year's class has 1 or more years of prior college, perhaps Plan B and reapply next year if it doesn't work out this time around.
