YP's Transit Cape Cod Canal

It is almost time for the Block 2 YP flotilla to start return journey to Annapolis. They have stops in NYC and Philly planned. They will also have to do some evolutions that were skipped on the way to Boston due to mechanical issues on one of the boats. So far DS has enjoyed his YP cruise. No issues with seasickness and has experienced things he would not have experienced at Normal College.

Go N*ot College!

You know when they are in Philly? I'd love to get a pic to send to my Plebe.

Any time in Newport is a great time unless you are at the prep school where winter can be not be much fun.
Ah..memories of outdoor formations at NAPS....pro tip -- the Reefer (peacoat) issued to Midshipmen at USNA is alot warmer than the enlisted peacoat issued at NAPS !

Gee, that must have been awful!
Yea, someone had to do it ....
(Of course, the Officers and Firsties on the cruise got to stay in room, but the Youngsters stayed on the boat. The Luders yawls were pretty spartan, and it was hot ..but location was great...only a few blocks from Ft Lauderdale nightlife !

Uniform of the day - chinstraps down, collars up!

YP flotilla spending another day in NYC so departure now planned for Tuesday. DS not sure why.

Also being told they will arrive back in Annapolis on Thursday so speculating that the stop in Philly will not happen. Again only deck plate rumor so far.

Today is not a great day to be on the water in the NYC area due to predicted weather.

Hmmm. Bad weather? They’re safe at the port in Hell’s Kitchen right now … I have live streaming updates of DD’s location from my iPhone in Virginia, and it’s all clear.

Are they at the pier near INTREPID? That’s a common docking spot.

As was predicted for the day, there have been thunderstorms and showers moving through the area off and on since sunrise.

Offshore group of four 44’s making their way south from Rhode Island. Yesterday weather was dismal. Cold, wet, limited visibility. Today they navigated under the Brooklyn Bridge, past Ellis Island and all of the other iconic sites. Pictures he sent were great.
