Somewhere I read they work 10-2 on Saturdays but now I can’t remember where.
Those might be "answer the phone" hours.
It was not unusual in either my military or much of my aerospace industry careers to be in
on Saturdays and the hours were rarely as structured (or short) as 10-2. At a very busy/crisis
time (like this is for Admissions), it would not be unusual for me to work 8AM -6PM or later.
Not Admissions related but perhaps an example. On USS Firstship, we were approaching
commissioning date and had to try to do crew drills and our regular work aboard ship in
parallel with the shipyard workers finishing the ship. Thus the ship officially shifted the
work day to be 2PM-10PM Mon-Fri for what was supposed to be a month. The first few days
we did work to that schedule but then the officers/chiefs and select others started getting
scheduled for meetings at noon, then 10AM and finally the leadership was coming in at 8AM and
leaving to go home at 11PM. It stayed that way for about 6 weeks.
Our scheduled hours were 2-10 M-F but the reality was a LOT more hours and we were mostly in
on Saturdays too but the hours were shorter.
