When you receive a nomination you will be evaluated and compared to the other 9 candidates on the slate, one will get an appointment. If you don't get that appointment you are still in the mix, because you then the national pool and compete nationally for any remaining appointment slots. (MOC appts, Pres appts, ROTC appts, etc do not add up to the class size required to fill a class). You are competing against everyone that didn't get a nomination, and everyone that got a nomination but was not at the top of their MOCs slate.
Whoever the Academy wants the most will be the winner of the slate. The rest will go on the national waiting list. What if your MOC does not rank his slate? How does that work? Thank you!
Ok thank you -that is how I read and understood it to be and then was told differently by someone who went through process 5 years ago.Whoever the Academy wants the most will be the winner of the slate. The rest will go on the national waiting list.

Does whoever the Academy wants the most=whoever has the highest WCS, or is this not always the case?Whoever the Academy wants the most will be the winner of the slate. The rest will go on the national waiting list. What if your MOC does not rank his slate? How does that work? Thank you!
I think that MemberLG is correct in that for Congressional slates the highest WCS wins.Does whoever the Academy wants the most=whoever has the highest WCS, or is this not always the case?Whoever the Academy wants the most will be the winner of the slate. Thanks @okboomer. So just to clarify I understand - a candidate who is currently DQ then has no chance to be considered for appointment in National Pool unless waiver has already been granted? And if waiver hasn’t been initiated by SA at this time probably very slim chance of appointment because the candidate will not be considered in national pool? I’m assuming candidate did not win slates (2 noms) but if slate were won waiver request would have been initiated by now?Correct, not in the National Pool until a waiver is received. Not sure I understand the last question. You can be issued an LOA and yet be medically DQd if that is the question.
Not sure if you applied USAFA, but I came across this on their webpage and thought it was interesting. Thanks @okboomer. I am unsure if the various SAs follow the same MO in this area. My guess would be similar but different. If mid-April is typically the tail end of the process, it seems we aren’t to the half-way point just yet so hang in there and keep moving forward with all additional options while maintaining hope for the SA. It’s not officially over until the TWE arrives. Thanks @okboomer.
