AFROTC Rated Boards 2016

Realistically you were only ever going to be picked up for pilot. Confusing as to why you didn't though....

Yeah, I'm pretty surprised. No idea why, really. The numbers just don't seem to add up.

Any word on your chances for the alternate board?

All of our cadre took leave today, so there isn't much word, but I've been told that I am on the alternate list, haha. No idea where on the list, though. I should find out some more info next week (probably Tuesday).

I'm also unfortunately a non-select for pilot and CSO. I was high interest for both of them

PCSM: 65 (96 AFOQT, 6 flight hours)
AFOQT Nav: 91
GPA: 3.40
FT: top third (5/21)
RSS: top third
PFA: 100

Like all the other non-selects, I'm very disappointed. I'm honestly very surprised I didn't get picked up for CSO. I am really interested in seeing the average stats for selects this year. Cadre told me they'll be out next week at the earliest. Best of luck to everyone else going up for the supplemental board

Yeah dude, absolutely. Huh, your stats are higher than some people I know who got selected... of course, that's assuming those people are being honest about their scores. Still, strange.

Yeah it's completely frustrating. Anyway, I've heard good stories about the supplemental board though

I actually haven't heard anything about it. Doesn't it meet in October or something?

EDIT: I just went upstairs and talked to my friend who got selected for CSO. I don't mean to be a jerk or anything, but your scores are definitely different... Here are his:

AFOQT CSO: 97
GPA: 2.7 (tech)
FT: Middle 1/3
RSS: Middle/Top 1/3
PFA: 97
No flying hours

There's something about this that just doesn't seem to make sense.

Some of the stats here for the non-selects are really starting to frighten me. You guys had good rankings, good PCSMs. I don't really get it.

What is your major?
I was aiming to have stats like that next year, only difference is my GPA is quite a bit lower than your.

To all those not selected or that didn't receive what they wanted, I just wanted to give some words of encouragement,

It's not over, it's not over until you say its over. A non select is not a no, it never is. If you want it bad enough, find a way. I know for sure there are routes that can be taken in the ANG/reserve path, and until the day you commission, the Active Duty route could always come through, a 2 weeks ago it did for me. You are going to have to want it though, and want it bad. At this point, as long as your numbers are semi competitive, its all about relationship building. As a cadet, there isn't a whole lot of pull you have in the pilot selection process. You know who does have some pull, though? The captain you met one career day who may have a friend in the pentagon, the general you met through some dumb luck, the Col you cold called one day asking about possible pilot positions in his reserve unit, but most importantly, your cadre. This being said, the one thing that makes this all possible is not giving up. You have to decide every day to become a better student, a better leader, a better person. Its not easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is.

Got word on CSO.

PCSM - 62
AFOQT Nav - 78
AFOQT Pilot - 92
FT: Mid-third
PFA: 99.7
GPA: 3.38

For all those not selected, keep your chin up.

I was a non select last year in February so I know the feeling. I did get picked up for RPA in October and then upgraded to pilot in December so anything can happen between now and commissioning. Aim high.

My story is the same here, non-select in the first board, got RPA in Fall of '15, then upgraded to Pilot just last month. My stats are mediocre compared to everyone's here, don't give up!

PCSM - 63 (6 flight hours)
AFOQT Nav - 22
AFOQT Pilot - 83
FT: Mid-third
RSS: Mid-third
PFA: 96.6
GPA: 2.89 (non-tech!)
