Lynpar expressed my sentiments exactly. I'm sure your DS will rise to the top at whatever he chooses to do, but I'm so sorry that he (and) you have to suffer through this avoidable disappointment.

In our state it's done through the governor's office too (I believe through the public liaison rep). There used to be a program where they would provide the flag and fly it for you for free, but now you pay for both the flag and the privilege of having it flown. They provide the flag though...

Thanks all -- we ended up giving him the flag last night. It's very special because it was flown over our state capitol in honor of a good friend who was a state senator. DS was very moved that the our friend had given him the flag, and he'll be bringing it with him to indoc :thumb:

Awhile ago I saw a thread discussing plebes hanging state flags in their rooms. We have one, but I'm not sure if this still being done. If so, can DS take the flag durign indoc, or do we wait until parents' weekend?

Indoc is fast approaching. I know DS is ready (as ready as he can be) to enter KP. I know it is time for him to move on to bigger and better things. I know that it is time to let him go and embark on this new adventure as a man. I know all of these things, but I am so very sad -- I am going...

I don't know about free auto insurance, but our premium for DS will go WAY down the day he enters KP. We already have USAA, and the reduction in premium is phenomenal. We have had USAA for all of our insurance needs for many years, and we have found them to be excellent.

Thanks for the quick response! I guess he will get a pair that he likes now & then we'll get new sneaks (2 pair:thumb:) for indoc. He can always leave the ones he gets now at home for vacations. Good running sneaks get pricey, but it's worse to suffer shin splints :eek:

I wish we had the information on the "gear" needed for indoc, but I'm sure someone out there will know this. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the kids need specific sneakers for indoc. Am I right? Or can DS wear whatever he wants. He's in desperate need of new running sneaks, but I...

If DS misses out on liberty, I'll park myself on campus from sunup until sundown -- no one messes with mom's chance to see her kid :wink:
