Nice photos! Some of the captions were a little off but that's okay.
Great shot of the march through the golf course, loved the foot check and the "Old Grads" are truly inspirational.
Livinlarger - where were you that you got photos of your d?
We were able to get onto the sidewalk between the barracks and the Plain (after they all sat down) before the MPs moved everyone along. The telephoto on the camera came in very handy!!!
Oh Yes!!! the telephoto was handy!
Did any New Cadets spot their Mom and come running over for a hug??
Did you stay until they all went with their Companies?
That was a little bittersweet.
To put it bluntly, this is what makes USMA the best, and instills the pride of achievement in your new plebes. At some *other* schools they march three miles to a valley, or play grunt for a week. Your kid has done it day in and day out since the end of June. They've marched more in the last 72 hours under more weight than any of their classmates at other schools have all summer. And that was after the days of challenges and patrolling in the field.
Hahaha...the storm that would ensue if a new cadet broke ranks and ran to a parent would be ungodly. I hate doubt any of them was so utterly foolish.

Someone was asking about a NC breaking out and hugging parents.....it did indeed happen while they were eating lunch. I witnessed it in disbelief! A NC said "What the hell" and ran over and gave his parents a hug....was quickly brought back to his company. Was wondering what repercussions that incident produced? Had to be quite severe as what is going to discourage future cadets from breaking ranks.
