Does the nomination from Raskin show up in your son's portal yet? We are MD08 too and know letter in mail, just haven't received it yet.....
The USMMA portal does not tell you from which member of Congress. Only shows 'YES". The letter that my son received informed him that he did not get a nomination. Then, two hours later he gets a call from Raskin's office offering him the USMMA nomination. The letter is dated December 16th.

Ok, Thank you! My daughter only applied to USNA. She was told yesterday that letters from Raskin were mailed out Friday.....but ours has not come in the mail yet.

And we have no sense as to when Van Hollen or Cardin make notifications......

You can sign up for Informed Delivery with the USPS. It's a cool free service, they send you daily emails of images of the mail coming to your mailbox. It's not foolproof.
I thought it was the best idea ever when our DS was applying. However, the Gods conspired against us, and NONE of the letters from his 3 MOC's were scanned and failed to appear in the delivery email. Neither were his BFE's. Turns out, they were amazing surprises.

Thank you! We actually do have that service. So with your information, maybe it will be there today even though it isn't showing yet. But, also it could be a denial.....ugggg. I just know a letter is coming.....

Do you recall which came first? The letter or showing in the portal?

For sure the portal updated before he received snail mail letters. The letters were very nice, I know I have them saved somewhere. Hang in there!

Same with my son, no news at all. Hoping a nomination shows up this week. 🤞
Hoping you receive an appointment from your desired academy.

DS got email on Dec20 from Sen Feinstein's office informing him he was not the Principal nominee to USMA but selected as one of the unranked alternates so he's still in the running for an appointment (and he got his BFE yesterday). He was informed a congratulatory letter from the senator is in the mail.

The nomination appeared on the USMA portal first, a few days before the personal email.

He got a nomination, but hasn’t been offered an appointment yet?

What BFE?

For those anxiously awaiting in California, this is pretty much the modus operandi regarding nominations. I see the senate staffer not so much as an interviewer but more as screener wanting to ensure nominations are doubled up in one individual. At any rate, whatever state you are from, good luck to you as you wait.
I may have misunderstood what you quoted here while you were making a generalization, I am speaking only about how the process was for us wrt to the 2022 CA Senatorial noms. For Sen Padilla, I believe he specifically waited so he would only interview applicants who were not part of Sen Feinstein's interviewee list (or final nominated list). Which I believe is fair in order to give more applicants a chance. DS was no longer interviewed but I felt if everyone was just screened based on the strength of the application on what was submitted, he would have gotten an interview. So the doubling up of nomination from Sen Padilla would not seem to apply. Plus since he is a new senator he may have wanted to run things differently. From what we've observed, his application portal seemed the most "high tech" and he seemed to be one of the supporters of modernizing and simplifying the nationwide academy nominations process (senate bill but forgot the number).

As for Sen Feinstein's process, her staffer mainly did administrative duties and didn't interview. Both interviewers in DS' case were veterans and have been participating in the selection panel for years. Also, at no point was DS asked about his other nomination applications' status - all interactions have been professional and supportive and only pertained to the Feinstein application.

Had my last interview with my congressperson today. Just a waiting game now, I've been done with my candidate files since October. Anxious! Now working on ROTC backup plan, doing fitness test very soon.

He was offered a USMA appointment last December 14, it was a digital letter on his portal and he also got an email from admissions saying there was an official correspondence added to his portal and that it was an offer of admissions.

BFE - big fat envelope via USPS Priority containing the black heavy folder with appointment certificate and a graduation cap topper with the USMA logo. Also two printed pages of next steps and needed documentation.

I misunderstood from your post that he was offered an appointment. Usually that occurs after a nomination is given.

Thanks for the info, congrats to you all. My son hasn’t gotten a nom or decline yet from Feinstein, never heard from Padilla, or back from or MOC after the interview. He applied to AF only. Hopefully his is coming soon.
