I know someone who got an LOA for USNA (not sure which senator gave it), and another who got a USNA nom from Kaine (No LOA).
Did you mean "nomination for USNA" instead of "LOA for USNA" from unknown senator? Was it a Virginia Senator?

Sorry for the confusion, posted too early without sufficient coffee intake. I meant one friend got an LOA for USNA., then got a nomination from a Virginia Senator, not sure which one. Other friend got nomination from Senator Kaine for USNA.

We have not heard from Kaine on USAFA.

I remain optimistic for those waitng for notification from Senators Warner and Kaine, but it looks like many of the noms have been delivered already, and Virginia is usually a "one nomination to one academy" state. So if you received a congressional nom, it would be rare to also get a senate nom from a competitive district in VA.

In reading of these posts I got got curious and was wondering is it harder to get a congressional or senatorial nomination in competitive areas. Also, in the extremely competitive areas where congressman and senators usually coincide their nominations, who generally gets the pick if both like an applicant and which one notifies first or does this vary.

How rare is it to get a nomination from Cline (VA-06) to both of your requested academies (USAFA and USMA)? I thought it was more likely to only get your top choice. Does this mean my daughter has a higher likelihood of acceptance?

Has anyone heard from any Senator or MOC in Massachusetts yet?
Notifications for MA-2 are out but no word that I know of on senators. The MA senators are usually late in January from what I know in the past.

Depends on the competition on each slate.

Good evening. On the USMA Class of 2026 Appointment List - Self-Updating forum, there are only 2 VA appointments listed so far, one AJROTC and one Presidential. Does a Wexton VA-10 nomination mean less than a Senator Warner or Kaine nomination? Supposedly VA-10 is crazy competitive for nominations.

No, all you need is one nomination. The competition to win a senate slate might be slightly harder than a congressional slate because senate draws the best from the entire state, but the top senate nomination runners up usually do well in the national pool.

Moderators or members with more experience please correct me if I'm wrong!

If this helps anyone waiting my son got his nomination letter in the mail today from Senator Feinstein & our MOC. I don’t know if it showed up in the portal yet, he has been working most the day and has not checked yet.
