AF ROTC Enrollment Allocation Results

There is no way to find out unless Congress had to approve it. Even if they did, there would be no list of names. All you would find is X amount will be allotted to SFT.

vamom,

In yrs past they did not inform them of their Max class date. Cadets give preference, but AF comes first.

DS found out in March, and was informed in April his class date. I would not be surprised with this yr. they may indeed find out with selection.

vamom, your DS is at a school where finals are an issue for Max1. Same with Max 6. Don't worry,

Pima, if he is fortunate enough to earn a spot, Max 1 was the one that I was thinking about in terms of not being great timing so thanks. I was thinking that since the EA slots are coming out later this year, that they very well might include the session with the selection notice. Thanks again for your valuable insight!

vamom,

they take into account college academic yrs.

DS went to Max 6 because his school didn't return for academics until Sept. It had nothing to do with how he racked or stacked, it had everything to do with his college. VT is in finals week with Max 1. Our DS's det would be in the same position.

Thanks.....I guess now it's just the waiting game aka "the military" as I've come to learn! :smile:

The first phrase I learned as prior is - "Hurry up and wait..." Always a classic because it never fails to come true.

I think the class of 15 will have that statement down pat by the time the go ADAF.

Remember you will still have your AFSC board, than your 1st duty assignment/date board, than wait again before you report, which can be 6 mos +/-, and than you could be on casual status for another 6 mos +/-

Thus, hurry up and wait process is in your future for a long time.

lol very true - No information after class today. Guess we'll see what happens later on in the day.

I think the hardest part of all of this is that it truly is a fork in the road where our lives are either Air Force or not. It's one thing to be waiting for a duty assignment. It's another if you don't even know what your future career will be and if everything you have worked for has been in vain. You know? But I totally get what you are saying.

Still nothing as of 10 AM...

thursday the real deal?

Was that guy messing with everybody or has a message been sent ?

I wouldn't put any money on that....remember this is pretty much the rumor mill. But hey, I love the optimism!

They may be messing with you, but the fact is they (AFROTC) are incredibly close, if not at the hard line right now for SFT.

As 200's you don't get what it really takes to get this crap done.

You know you will need to do a bag drag, and a short physical.

However, AFROTC has bigger issues.
Airline tickets.
Sequestration
Files to be sent with each cadet
~~~ Remember they are also getting the 400 commissioning organized. They are dealing with security clearances for them. 300s selected for rated need orders cut for their flight physical at WPAFB. 200's are just one of their yr groups.
I have to say this, and do so with kindness, but it feels like many of you think that the 600 cut from the original will be disenrolled. I have a different perspective.
The rate was suppose to be @94%, there will be some cut, but they would have been cut anyway. The rest that are cut will IMPO will be given options because they just can't take them.
I would spend this time educating myself what are the chances next yr as a 500.
Again, read Bullet's story, The det. believed in him, they fought for him. If you don'r get SFT, but get 500, ask them what happens next yr, will they support you over a 200?
It stinks what you are all enduring, but once you get the answer, it is up to you because the ball is now in your court.
Maybe not Thursday, but probably Friday.
I mean many classes end in about 3 weeks after this week. That's not a whole lot of time to prepare.
But since there's talk about Max 1 being cut, dets may probably do "meetings" after the semester is over to go over stuff they did not have enough time to do. I think this is unlikely but it may be a possibility
I vote for not buying a new plane and send everyone ;-)
It's not so much a matter of the Air Force not being able to afford to send everyone to field training but the general concept of having to afford another officer in the service. The sheer cost of putting just one person in uniform is staggering when you think about it, and this applies not only to when a service personnel is on active duty but for life. You need to think about training, equipment, food, housing, transportation, education, medical care... it's a long term dollar value that is payed for by tax payers over the course of the service personnel's natural life.
When AFROTC command gives cadets Enrollment Allocations, they do not project attrition. That being said, they have full confidence that the cadets they give EAs to will become USAF officers. Though attrition usually is pretty substantial during and after Field Training per class (maybe 5-10%) until graduation, the budget must allow for an entire class getting their commission.
Best of luck getting an EA, I am just as nervous for you all!
PIMA, I could use your wiseness here. I am pretty much decided that I will not become a 500 if that is the only route left open for me. I almost feel like I am burnt out. I had two nominations to USAFA when those cuts hit and now i'm in this situation. I'm starting to think that if this doesn't work out, the fat lady has sung and it's time for me to focus on engineering and put my efforts into being successful at that.
What was it like for Bullet to come back as a 500 with his FTP class as POC? Do you have to go through all of the FTP semester again?
I know a cadet who was in our program that was a 500 before dropping at semester. It is a repeat of FTP year minus the AS200 class. You'd still have to go to LLAB and PT and you are FTP so you'd be getting yelled at for everything for another year, have to be places early, etc. It seems to me like it absolutely sucks. You're left behind to join a new class with different dynamics and you have to call members of your original FTP class sir/ma'am.
I am deciding whether I would come back as a 500 if given the opportunity too, but that would be another $30,000+ investment and I don't know if I have another year to give. This could very well be the end of the road for me. I definitely want to hear Bullet's story too.
Just remember your last semester for your final year, you can be a part time student. Too bad you can't be part time for both semesters...
I am a current AS500 this year. I was given an option to skip fall semester and come back in spring to re-compete which I did. Sure it feels weird that your friends are all POC's but outside of training, they are still your friends. In fact they really are trying to motivate and train you from what they experienced to make your life easier.
It was really interesting and funny to see new cadets try and figure out who I was since I had ribbons and was part of Honor Guard. They are now my flight mates and friends also. You'll also remember the AS100 guys so you won't feel lonely at all.
Ask yourself this. 10 or 20 years from now when you look back, would you regret the decision you made?
My answer is no. I'm glad I came back even if I am 500 and might not get an EA slot.
I think this is what you both are looking for. Pima posted this a few pages back.
