I said that I'm going for Intel this fall, not that i've been classified as intel. I'm doing 5 years with my major so I don't get to turn in my form 53 until a few months from now. I'm just trying to plan for the future. I'll take the GRE this summer and probably apply for grad school at my current university just in case I'll have a later EAD for whatever AFSC I get.Just curious, but isn't it too late now to ask for an ED? Don't you have to be accepted by an approved Grad school at this point for ED, and get approval from HQ MPC? You are what 30 days away at tops from commissioning? They now have you in their ADAF pipeline from a report/class date perspective.
I would talk to your CoC about getting a deferment for ED, as in yesterday. Otherwise, I would find a job to survive for 6 months especially if you took student loans for college. That career starter loan impo should not be used as a way to pay bills while you wait to go ADAF.
~ DS reported Sept 30 to his 1st base. but it took time to get his paycheck in order. If memory serves me right it was @ 1 month, but meanwhile he had to pay on his own dime to get to the base, buy and set up his 1st place (food, linens, pots/pans, cable, etc). In essence it was a couple of thousand outlaid from his own pocket.
Just food for thought when you think about how you use that starter loan
Also, Ive heard that these immediate EADs don't apply to Ops AFSC's b/c those pipelines are limited by training base capacity and they can only hold so many. This is what makes me wonder how long it the typical wait time is for an Intel person.
