AFROTC EA due date

I'm sure there is, but we were just told the overall stats at our det which are exactly what cadet15 posted.

This is so frustrating, I bet just about every other 200/250 will find out today or tomorrow, our det is waiting 2 days to tell us!!!! They want to deal with the paperwork first and are trying to make sure there were no mistakes which means some people they expected to go probably weren't selected which is really depressing. I guess, for us at least, the wait continues. Good luck to everyone else.

ERAU,

Does your DS know whether he got a slot or not yet?

Haven't heard a word from my DS. I won't until he knows something set in concrete. He is fully aware that I check this site EVERY time I sit down at the computer....so he knows....that I know...that EA's are out...

He did tell me the other day something that contradicted what my opinion was in regards to how their detachment would be handling the aftermath....

He said that once EA's come down and everybody knows whether they are in or out....

That their detachment would first take the time with those NOT receiving EA's with what their options are BEFORE getting the rest prepared for their summer Max.

While this conflicted with the way I thought it would go down, he explained it in a way that I understood why it was best this way.

So with this new information I will have no problem if I have to make a change to his nonrefundable airplane ticket home on May 1st :yllol:

I guess my second post was more confusing. I was the first to meet with him this morning. So yes, I'll be there most definitely. I know two of my other classmates have met with him also but unfortunately we can't tell each other what we got until LLAB tomorrow.

Congrats...

Somebody should start a new thread for those going to field training like they did last year..and probably the years before with the pertinent info.. major .rated/non-rated/tech GPA PFA scholarship/non scholarship max etc

Might as well be you...as apparently you are the first poster with a golden ticket..

ERAU,

Actually posters were saying 1600, 1590 is not that much lower. In the end for guessing you all were right on the mark.
~ 1600 and 60%.

It is just hard to swallow when it indeed becomes reality.

The 3.38 would be my question, because if that includes non-tech AND tech, then the fact is non-tech probably needed closer to 3.6+ cgpa for the avg of 3.38. If that 3.38 isnon-tech, than things have not changed since it has always been between 3.3-3.4 since 09.

The PFT is just a tad higher, it use to hover at 95-96, now it is basically 97.

The SAT/ACT is still the same it was before, BUT the question to me is what were the AFOQT scores.

I hope class of 18 have paid heed to this thread because OUCH is an understatement regarding 174 scholarship cadets not being offered EA. Basically, that is 15% of all AFROTC scholarships awarded in 12.
~~~ It enforces what old posters have been saying.
~~~~~ Don't go to a college if the scholarship is the only way you can afford to attend

AND

The slate is wiped clean once in the det. The scholarship is masked/blind for EA selection.

Congrats to all that received this opportunity, and remember you have two more years of proving yourself. Starting this summer at Max.

To those that got the at this time conversation., it is not over. It just means you are at a fork in the road and must decide which path to proceed on.

My DS got one! The news came bitter sweet though because his roommate for the past 2 years who we have c"grew to love him and his family did not get one. I was shocked because he is a 3.6 GPA Tech major on scholarship!

Well if he didn't get one then I certainly didn't I have a 3.04 gpa and a 94.8 pfa score

Jbow, not necessarily true. Commanders Ranking was the single biggest factor this year from my understanding. A Non Tech Cadet with a lower GPA but higher CC ranking (Top Third) at his Det did get one!

I got one! I'm so happy but still was stressed until everyone in my class was told. We were all hanging around the det for 2 hours until we knew what was up with everyone. Hugs and tears for everyone! Good luck to everyone who didn't find out yet. My commander is awesome - he set up a 5-branch career fair on Friday for more opportunities - including Reserves and Air National Guard to show everyone that they still could serve. I think he knew that we were going to get hit hard and wanted to make sure everyone knew that they still had options. So for everyone who didn't get one - there are still so many opportunities and you are all awesome people.

Another thing I forgot to add. The paper with stats our commander gave out said that all the cadets who did not get EAs must be disenrolled. Guess they're not letting anyone come back as 500s. Just thought that was interesting.

This is somewhat off topic but I just wanted to post a little bit of encouragement for those reading this who were not selected for FT. I was a Non-select back in 2012 and at the time I though not getting selected was the end of the world and my dream of being an officer. However remember there is a whole world of opportunities out there. So I would encourage you to see these results as a million dollars opening instead of one door closing. Personally I jumped over to arotc and am now an army 2LT and I am thankful everyday I didn't get an EA. Good luck to all of you, every cadet who went up for an EA this year is an ambitious, hardworking person and I know this stepping stone will lead you down an equally exciting path.

EA

My son was fortunate enough to receive an EA this year. I am so thankful. He heard the news about an hour ago. He says 20 fellow cadets were not selected from his det and it is very hard on them all. The cadets are being told individually in a private meeting. He said it's sad around the det.

I wish everyone the very best of luck and am praying for good news for all and God's comfort if the news is not as you had hoped.

BTW - he is non-tech, rated. His stats fit in with those selected with a PFA of 94.6

That was "awarded" in 2012. When you remove those that have had medical problems, academic issues or have already quit because they decided that AFROTC wasn't right for them......that 174 probably represents a substantially larger percentage than 15% of those that were submitted. Tough day for a lot of cadets today.

Are you serious?!? That is insane. Don't take this the wrong way, but please tell me he was like bottom 1/3 or something because there's no way a 3.6 Tech major should not get an EA. Maybe if that 3.6 is inflated by grade replacement since AFROTC doesn't accept that.

Dang, now I'm worried. I have a 3.07cgpa, 95pfa, 1300 SAT, and ranking is top 1/3. I have a pretty rare tech major so I'm hoping that was taken into consideration. It's going to be a loooooong 2 days.

I was not picked up with the following:

Non tech/non rated
CGPA: 3.7
PFA: 96.7
Top half commanders ranking

It is of my utmost disappoint to have not been selected. I chose to study at college solely for the reason of Air Force ROTC. It is something I have been interested in since doing a "when I grow up project" in middle school. Despite the circumstances of today, I honestly couldn't have chosen a better choice. I had the privilege to able to meet some of the greatest people I have ever met while in the program and it has changed me into the person I am today.

I have not completely made up my mind as to what I what I will choose to do. I wish to continue my family's legacy of serving in the United States Air Force. Both my father and grandfather served 20 years enlisted and it was of my aspirations to continue what tradition had been laid before me, however to be the first one to receive a commission. I will definitely spend the next couple days considering what options I have to choose from. Regardless of what happens, I am in hopes if being able to receive my silver dollar salute from my father.

They had a high 80 percentile selection rate last year as I recall...

Our rate was 100% last year until one cadet got his retracted - apparently they gave out too many. And some others got medically DQ'd. So 100% didn't go.

Non Ducor, that was his AF GPA, no grade replacement. He was told that his CC ranking is what hurt him. He is a great young man, my prayers go out to him and his family!

Glad to hear it all worked out for you.

Not sure how many slots will be available in AROTC this year, worth looking into.

Just a question since my math is a bit rusty, you said you weren't selected in 2012, such would have been the end of your sophomore year. If you joined AROTC the start of your junior year wouldn't you be A senior now. My math must be off because you said your now a 2LT. Just curious is all, thanks.
