AFROTC EA due date

Thank you for the welcome ERAUMattmom we'll be on our best behavior. And its 5 posts not 8 for messaging.

All the det commanders know as much as we do about EAs dates. Anything they say is all speculation until official word comes down the chain of command, and when it does its going to be names, not dates.

BTW.... Thanks to the addition of the newest member to SAF - ERAUMattroommates I'm going to have to watch what I post from now on.....

Welcome Tyler, Donny and Anthony...Nice avatar !!

Just a word of advice, you may not want to give out your son's roommates names on a public forum.

Especially when their last names may or may not start with W, S, and G respectively :thumb:

As to those EAs, this semester has been the most lacking for information in 4 years (usually SAF is the first to get intel, even before FB). Last year they were released 11 April. Really you guys are stressing out with speculation and things you overhear from others. If you're at 157, what Maj T said Friday is the 100% truth - no one knows, but when it comes time, you'll find out professionally, responsibly, and as the team you've come to be. Accept that everything happens for a reason and hakuna matata, Warthogs.

Yes you are absolutely correct in this regard.

I realized a short time AFTER choosing MY screen name that it contained much more information than it should for this forum.

But then I realized that people on this forum should be smart enough to see the 'mom' on the end of the name and know that any views posted here were not Matt's but MINE......that of a MOM.

I'm pretty sure that my Matt doesn't frequent this forum.....Especially if people like ME are able to post information.....I mean what am I going to know about what's going on in regards to AFROTC....I'm just a mom 2500 miles away from where her son is attending school.

I concluded that anybody on this forum who knows Matt ALSO knows his roommates names, what their avatar stands for, and has probably been to a BBQ at their house.

So when they (the room mates) chose to stop lurking :shake: and actually join this forum, the fact that they chose the screen name that they did of ERAUMattroommates was a giveaway to who they were.

I was wrong to take it upon myself to announce their names to the rest of the forum. Fortunately from what I understand they are all great cadets and will do nothing to embarrass themselves or their detachment on this forum.

It's highly likely they are simply doing what a GREAT cadet does in watching Matt's back for him.....since I was foolish and naïve enough to pick a screen name that hung Matt out to dry. They are probably here to make sure that I Matt's MOM doesn't misrepresent the 157 in any way shape or form.

I thank you for that W, S, and G ! :thumb:

Hope you all had a great time at dining out last night!

okay lets just say worst case scenario... what is the latest possible time we could be notified of EAs? If Max 1 starts on May 21, would they have to give us at least a 48 hour notice? So we could possibly notified as late as May 19?

They can technically cancel Max 1 and have Max 6 so that they can shift Field Training by a couple of weeks if things really do go that bad. A 48 hour notice would be terrible as you need to do several things before Field Training like Bag Drag, QFR, get your orders from Cadre, get updated shots, etc. Considering that by May 21 that many cadets would be back home releasing EAs in late May would be a massive charlie foxtrot for cadre to recall all of their cadets to return back to the detachment and make sure that they are accounted for. Out of state cadets would have the most burden as they would have to find a way to get back to their detachment to get their orders in such short notice. Two weeks notice sounds like a more appropriate timeline but it would still not compensate the cost for out of state cadets to return to their detachments to perform the QFR and receive the orders/flight tickets.

I'm really disappointed in how all of this is happening not just in AFROTC but in Active duty. While we are waiting in news if we are getting in, officers in the Air Force are waiting for news if they are getting out. I have heard about officers leaving the Air Force due to frustrations with the Big Blue and now I can see what they mean. Hopefully EAs will be released soon and lessons would be learned to prevent this from happening again.

I'm sure Pima would say...."Welcome to the military".... get used to it

Boy would that be a logistical nightmare. The whole point of releasing Max dates early was so that cadets doing summer PDTs (project go, CRO training, etc....things that are almost always approved by the AF as valid reasons to put them in certain Max sessions) would be able to plan and put down the only Max times that they could go to. In a little under 3 weeks many cadets will be clear across the country from their detachments and some will even be out of the country.

There are cadets going to Russia, China, Korea, Morocco, etc. either as soon as school ends or as soon as Max 1 ends. It would be crazy for them to change Max dates all of a sudden, a fair amount of cadets have made $1000-$2000+ investments in their individual PDTs which the AF told them to go ahead and do once Max dates had been set. Pretty terrifying if you think about it because they pretty much gambled a huge chunk of savings that they would get EAs and eventually be reimbursed...which doesn't happen if you dont get an EA.

I can't say I'm not a little disappointed by the wait, but I haven't lost faith in the system to where I'd believe they would do something like that to us. I know we all joke about the possibility of us all being 200s forever, but let's give them some credit. And I can't imagine that the nightmare of dragging ~2000 cadets up to hundreds and thousands of miles from their home towns all the way back to their detachments for bag drag, QFR, distributing orders, etc. any time after May 3 (as most schools are out by then) would be any less terrible for them as it would be for us.

Our cadre also said they know just as much as we do so I find it hard to believe that one det's commander would be more informed than the others. The ones that say they do are either speculating or have been misunderstood by their cadets. In either case, most likely none of these rumors are to be believed until that lucky 1st SAF member to actually get an EA posts a new thread about it.

Don't have any other info besides the FT Bag Drag total at WalMart today ran $218.13 - so plan accordingly... Good Luck!

I remember that was about our costs for DS plus some more because DS wears glasses, but his vision is not that bad that he needs them 24/7, thus we never purchased a second pair. Hence, we had to buy another pair.

Plus, when the det handed out the 2nd pair of blues pants they were brand new and unhemmed and we had to pay for them to get hemmed. FYI, if they gave your kids unhemmed pants like us, the AF pants are hemmed differently than suit pants.

I think in the end our total was in the 350 range for us, but if you don't have these issues than it should be in the 225 range. Sunblock isn't cheap, nor is getting the higher quality socks and moleskins. Bullet really paid attention to those things, probably like Romad because they both did time in the field on their feet. Don't skimp, make sure the socks are plush. I also think we purchased his camo tees from the BX military clothing and got him the camo under armor tees if I recall correctly. If we didn't do it for SFT, we did for him before he left for casual status at Del Rio.

ERAU, is correct. I would say that if this is frustrating you, just wait. DS got his first RNLTD in March for AD for May 10th. OOPS AF, DS didn't have his last final until May 12th, graduation was May 20th, commissioning was May 26th. You'd think they would have known when his college would be done with classes, or at least commissioning since it won the largest best det in the nation that year.

His next RNLTD to TX from MD was May 30th. The AF considered that a 3 day travel. IOWs he would have to leave the next a.m. This set of orders came down April 15th. Those orders were cancelled too.

As of his commission date it was Aug. 2nd. Those orders were cancelled July. August 2nd, he received his final date. RNLTD Sept 30th.

Now, he maybe an exception, but you maybe too. The point is for 5 months his life kept changing regarding when he was going to start his AF life. He watched peers get their start date in March and it never changed. When the dates dropped for DS the 1st, 2nd and 3rd time classmates were jealous because he was leaving so quickly compared to them. In the end, he was the last last to go to ADAF and he was the one jealous.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Pima.....The following fact is all you need to know. A week from now she will be at her DS's winging in Texas. Congrats again my friend....:thumb:

I didn't include glasses yet since he has to get a set of hard-frame black ones - probably another $100 plus eye exam. Also, Pima is absolutely correct about the socks - get good ones - here's a little trick from an old groundpounder.

Buy some thin slippery nylon socks (cheap dress socks) you can wear under your cotton ones. They'll slide inside of them and act like a teflon layer between the cotton and your feet. They'll help keep you from getting blisters because cotton is very abrasive. You DON'T want blisters during basic - BELIEVE you me!

Good Luck!

Congrats to your family - I'm sure you've all been along for the ride! I hope you'll stick around providing all of us just beginning the journey to provide us with your experience and insights!

Watch EAs get announced while we are gone that would be my luck and nobody from my det would tell me haha

EAs have been released to Holm Center and are waiting to be released to the detachments until Thursday or Friday. The numbers are low due to budget cuts. They wait to release them until the end of the week so that the cadets who don't get one can decide over the weekend if they want to continue on.

Kind of a sad thing to hear, that the numbers are pretty low, but remember as long as you did the best you could you should be proud. Any AS200 that's been through 2 years and a semester of field training preparation can pat themselves on the back because many do not even make it that far and it is an excellent learning experience they can take into any career field. Good luck to all.
